Climate & Conflict: Speaking to your MP about achieving a just and sustainable peace

July 16, 2025

6:00pm - 7:30pm

As the world increasingly heads down the path of devastating climate breakdown, instead of tackling it, our politicians increasingly tilt the world towards increased militarism and war. What are the causes of this, and – more importantly – what can we do to stop it?

Join experts on climate communication from Hope for the Future, as well as academics and activists working together for justice, cooperation and sustainability from Rethinking Security, for a workshop empowering you to make use of our democratic system to make your voice heard in favour of a shared future for all.

The event has been organised to go alongside HFTF’s new resource, Climate Crossroads: Environmentalism & Peace, a guide to talking to our politicians about the intersections of militarism and the climate and nature crises (view here). The session will cover:

  • Making the most out of our political system 💬
  • Finding Common Ground in the context of war and climate 🕊️
  • A discussion on what frameworks work best for different politicians 🖼️
  • Understanding the connections between militarism & climate-breakdown, as well as peace & sustainability 🌍
