Making Climate Change a Priority for your MP
There are 650 Members of Parliament in the UK, each representing their local areas or 'constituencies'. Your MP's job is to represent your concerns in Parliament. If you are concerned about the impacts of climate change locally, nationally or internationally, you can ask your MP to take action on your behalf.
Of course, this isn't quite as simple in reality. MPs see hundreds of constituents each week, and receive thousands of letters. Their time is limited and they have to make decisions about what to prioritise. More immediate concerns such as rising energy prices, job loss or the economy can seem more pressing.
Each MP will require a different approach to get the best out of your relationship with them. Whether you have never contacted them before, have a great relationship or feel that you have hit a brick wall talking to them about climate change, we hope that our resources will help you to help your MP take action on climate change. We also offer 1:1 tailored advice for working with MPs.
