Writing to your MP

You can find out who your MP is by typing in your postcode at www.theyworkforyou.com. You can then find your MP's contact details by looking them up online, but if you have trouble, please let us know and we will find out for you. 

Use our template letters as a guide on how to structure your letter. Personalised letters are more likely to receive a personal response, so there is plenty of room to make the letter your own. Here are some ideas for ways in which you can personalise your letter...

  • Look up your MPs previous voting record on www.theyworkforyou.org.uk and ask them about it if you have any queries. Please let us know if you would like us to prepare a constituency briefing.
  • Include some of the ways that climate change personally affects you or why it concerns you e.g. local flooding, the impact on a country you have visited, concern for your children or grandchildren, your personal commitment to social justice. 
  • Raise any issues that are particularly important to you. You can find some examples here.
  • Talk about ways in which you personally, or your church/ group have committed to living sustainably.
