Invite your local election candidates to a climate change hustings
You can download a printable PDF of this template letter here.
Begin your letter by inviting your local candidate to the hustings. Detail the practicalities including when and where it will be held if you have already organised this. It is important that your hustings represents the main parties in the area, so it may be worth suggesting a few dates so that your candidates can tell you their availability.
I am writing to invite you as the local candidate for Labour to a hustings at St Mary’s Church. This hustings is planned to be held on the 5th, 12th or 19th of this month. Could you please let me know your availability on these dates?
Tell your candidate who else you have invited to the hustings. You could also tell them about who is chairing the meeting and who might be in the audience.
I have also invited local candidates, John Smith and Jane Brown, so there should be some interesting discussion. The meeting will be chaired by Revd Harry Jones of St Mary’s. I have had a very positive response from my local church and the environment group I am part of so I am anticipating an excellent turn out.
Finish off, for example…
I would be delighted if you were able to join us at this hustings. I look forward to hearing from you.
